As editor for the blog "New Wine Tastings", let me be the first to welcome you to the new home of New Wine on the web. This has been a long time coming, and we here at The Institute for the Theology of Culture: New Wine, New Wineskins are excited to have a fresh paint job as we continue living out our calling: bridging the long established gaps between the church and contemporary culture. We hope for this blog to be a sort of meeting ground for people to explore and discuss a theology of culture, which at its most basic form is of theology of everyday life. If the God revealed in Jesus does exist, then a theology of culture is simply an exploration of why everything matters in view of the God who became matter. From our daily commutes to our neighborhood BBQs to what we decide to wear in the morning, these seemingly rote activities have profound theological implications. We at New Wine are dedicated to working with the the church to engage these subjects in thoughtful, nuanced, and practical ways for the sake of true and meaningful relationship with God, human culture, and the world at large.
That is hopefully what you will see in this space moving forward into the future. You'll be hearing from a number of theologians, ethicists, seminary students, pastors, and other practitioners from a myriad of backgrounds engaging changing cultural currents in view of the unchanging good news of Jesus Christ.
