Mission In Your Front Yard

No doubt, you are familiar with the cliche, "We live in a global village," but have you ever thought of doing missions in your front yard? New Wine, New Wineskins is partnering with the Evangelical Missiological Society to bring you, "Mission in Your Front Yard: Touching Diverse Peoples." "Mission in Your Front Yard" is a one-day conference focusing on multi-ethnic ministry in the greater Portland metropolitan area and how you can partner with God and others in touching diverse peoples close to home.

The first presentation is from urban demographic guru, Dr. Richard White of Portland State University. Dr. White will map Portland's front yard for us from the past to the present. Dr. Metzger will follow Dr. White's talk with a presentation that will attempt to give God's perspective on church growth and multi-ethnic ministry. Next resident practitioners will give their own personal stories of doing multi-ethnic ministry, including the problems and pitfalls they experience. At the end of the conference, a few panelists will assist us in making sense of the day's proceedings and offer us some suggestions as to how to take what we have learned and apply it.

New Wine, New Wineskins is pleased to welcome Dr. Mikel Neumann, who is Associate Professor of Missiology at Western Seminary and the Northwest Vice-President of the Evangelical Missiological Society. Dr. Neumann will serve as the moderator for the day's proceedings.

The conference will take place on Saturday, March 12 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Multnomah Biblical Seminary in rooms 111-112 of Travis-Lovitt Hall. General admission is $15.00. Students pay only $7.00. You can purchase tickets at the seminary reception desk or at the door on March 12. For more information, please see the enclosed flyer or contact Tracy Spitler (New Wine, New Wineskins' Coordinator) at 503-251-6767, or Dr. Neumann at 503-517-1894.
